When Monica Albertson comes to Cranberry Cove—a charming town on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan—to help her half-brother Jeff on his cranberry farm, the last thing she expects to harvest is a dead body.

It seems that Sam Culbert, who ran the farm while Jeff was deployed overseas, had some juicy secrets that soon prove fatal, and Jeff is ripe for the picking as a prime suspect. Forming an uneasy alliance with her high-maintenance stepmother, Monica has her hands full trying to save the farm while searching for a killer. Culbert made plenty of enemies in the quaint small town…but which one was desperate enough to kill?

MY REVIEW

What a fantastic debut novel! BERRIED SECRETS is the first book in the all new series, Cranberry Cove Mystery Series. While a lover of all books, my reviewing schedule hasn't really left me time to retreat to my first love genre: cozy mysteries so Peg's book, Berried Secrets was a pleasant and refreshing change. Berried Secrets remind me why I love cozy mysteries so much and I have fallen in love all over again with the genre.

Monica has closed her cafe and moved to Cranberry Cove where her brother resides on his cranberry farm. Jeff, Monica's brother, is hoping for a decent size cranberry crop this year now that harvest time has come around. Unfortunately for Jeff, his farm is barely hanging on right now which is why Monica heads to Cranberry Cove to help him.

It seems that while Jeff was deployed in Afghanistan the man he trusted to look after the farm, Sam Culbert, may have been skimming funds. But when Sam ends up dead Monica must find the culprit in order to make sure Jeff isn't made a suspect in the death. Forming an unlikely alliance with her step-mother, the two set out to save the day.

BERRIED SECRETS is wonderfully written and Peg Cochran has painted a beautiful picture of the scenic Cranberry Cove. From the cover you can tell that Cranberry Cove is going to be a beautiful place, but Peg's words are what really paints the portrait and had me feeling as if I was a part of the place.

The characters are well-written, likable, and strong and the secondary characters are just as likable as the main. BERRIED SECRETS is intriguing, fast paced, and has a mystery that will hook you from the start. Also, Peg's recipes are delicious!

I really cannot wait to see how this series goes from here. I'm anxiously awaiting more tales from Cranberry Cove.
