Phoebe St. Claire has devoted herself to saving her family's hotel empire--but her best efforts have not been good enough. With her whole world in turmoil, the tenacious go-getter turns to the once love of her life. Far from innocent, Jeremy McQueen was the guy from the wrong side of the tracks who her parents would never have approved of. Their years apart have only made the sexy bad boy more irresistible than ever--and their reunion is explosive.
When she asks Jeremy to help her salvage her family business, he agrees immediately, with only one condition--he wants her in his bed.
But soon surprising circumstances leave Phoebe reeling. Was this fairy tale romance just too good to be true? Will Jeremy's secrets pull them apart all over again?

Phoebe St. Claire
Feeling a bit drunk and overwhelmed with so many and so few choices at the same time, I needed some time alone and snuck off toward the beach path.
I ran toward the ocean and twirled in the sand as the wind blew around me. Once I started to feel dizzy from twirling, I still wasn’t ready to head back to the party, so I took the path that would lead me to the large Olympic-sized pool. I tugged my sandals off with thoughts of putting my feet in the water to rinse the mud and sand away. As I approached the pool, I noticed how it glowed like it was lit by small pale fires. Lost in the enchantment of it, the sudden movement beneath the surface startled me.
A fair-haired boy emerged from the water. He pulled himself up and out so quickly that I was momentarily stunned. And then when he drank me in with his eyes, I shuddered.
I couldn’t help it, the way he looked at me just made me shiver. No one had ever looked at me like that before and I found myself gazing back into his intense eyes.
He was utterly beautiful. His bare chest was sculpted but not overly bulky like Danny or Jamie. They worked out every day pumping obnoxious amounts of iron to look the way they did. In contrast, the boy standing before me had a swimmer’s build.
He stood stoic and a cautious look crossed his face. He was long and lean in a pair of bright green neon swim trunks.
Right away I could tell he didn’t care what anyone thought about him.
I loved the idea of that.
So I smiled at him.
He shook his head and his hair fell into his eyes.
I wanted to reach out and push it away. It wasn’t long, but it wasn’t short. It was perfect.
“Hey,” he said, grabbing a towel off the ground.
It didn’t belong to the club. It was small, beige, and a bit worn—not the large hunter-green fluffy ones monogrammed in white I’d always gotten when I used to come here to swim as a kid.
“Hey,” I said back, swinging my sandals nervously.
He grabbed a pair of jeans that lay next to where the towel had been and walked right by me.
I turned to watch him as he strode into one of the cabanas and dropped his trunks. I froze and squeezed my eyes shut, thinking I shouldn’t be watching him but then opened them quickly when I couldn’t resist maybe catching a glimpse.
“Didn’t your parents ever tell you it isn’t polite to stare?” His voice was low and sexy, and it tugged me out of my own head.
I put my hands on my hips. “Didn’t your parents ever teach you not to undress in mixed company?”
He pulled his jeans on and laughed. “My mother might have mentioned that once or twice but I’ve never been good at following the rules.”
And it didn’t escape my notice that he didn’t put any underwear on first.
Hot. Totally and completely hot.
I didn’t see anything I shouldn’t have seen, it was too dark, but something inside me electrified at the thought of seeing him naked and I stepped closer. That’s when I noticed the scuffed-up black work boots on one of the lounges with a T-shirt thrown next to them.
I raised a brow. “Is this your changing room?”
He laughed again but this time added a smile and put his hands up. “Okay you caught me. I better get out of here before anyone else does.”
He was adorable and charming and my heart skipped a beat or two.
Then I stepped even closer and entered the cabana entrance, effectively blocking his way. “Why? You’re not doing anything wrong.”
He shrugged but he didn’t try to move around me. “I usually swim in the ocean but when the water is too rough, like tonight, I come here.”
I bit my lip in contemplation before speaking. “Does it really matter if you get caught?”
He crossed his arms over his bare chest. “Let’s just say it’s not just the swimming. It’s more that I’ve been caught doing a few too many things that I shouldn’t have been doing in the past.”
A bad boy.
The thought made my pulse thunder. “So you’re not a member at this club?”
He cleared his throat and shifted from foot to foot. “No,” he laughed but his laugh was anything but genuine. “Are you?”
I hesitated as I considered my answer. “No, I was just walking the beach and wanted to rinse my feet. I’m Phoebe,” I said extending my hand. Technically, I wasn’t lying. I wasn’t a member, my parents were. I hadn’t even been here in years. And I was out for a walk.
Amusement danced in his blue eyes. “Jeremy,” he said back.
When I chewed on my lower lip, I noticed how his eyes focused on it.
Mine focused on the entirety of his mouth—his strong, firm jaw, his sensuous lips, and his tongue that had snuck out to lick his lips.
That mouth.
It was almost too much.
Almost.

MY REVIEW
WOW! Toxic is the phenomenal story of Phoebe and Jeremy. As the story begins we meet Phoebe and get a look into her life now. She is from a family with money, she has a fiance named Dawson and yet she finds herself unhappy and unsettled. A few months after ending her engagement, she runs into Jeremy on a night out on the town when he saves her from being harassed by another man.
Flashback five years and readers get a look at Phoebe and Jeremy's past. Kim Karr continues on with this manner of flashing from present to past to give us readers a good glimpse at the before and present of this relationship.
This is probably the hardest review I have ever written because there is just so much I want to say about Phoebe, Jeremy, and their relationship, but I don't want to give too much away.
Phoebe and Jeremy had a passionate, crazy fling that ended badly and now in the present Jeremy is all grown up, has money and connections. He's no longer beneath her, instead he is from her world - the world of the rich.
Even with the five years of radio silence, the heartbreak of the past, and the fact that they are both different people than who they were five years earlier, the connection between them still shines as brighter as ever.
Toxic is full of the dramatics, angst, tension, and romance. It is about two people who need to decide if it's worth it to fight for their relationship regardless of the past. A story of second chances and one of a kind loves, Toxic will leave you breathless as you fall in love with Phoebe and Jeremy, hear their story, and root for this couple. I have never loved a couple as much as I love Phoebe and Jeremy.
Toxic took me on a roller coaster ride of emotions, but I never wanted to get off. This was

the first book I have read by Kim Karr and I am kicking myself for not picking up a book of

hers sooner. I won't make that mistake again! Toxic is MY FAVORITE READ OF 2015

and I cannot wait to go back and read other books by this author. I am in love with her

writing  style and how she brings a story together and draws readers into the story. I never

wanted the book to end.

Blog Tour: Neighbors with Benefits (Anderson Brothers #2) by Marissa Clarke

NwB_1600Neighbors with Benefits (Anderson Brothers #2)
by Marissa Clarke

About the Book:
CEO Michael Anderson might be something of a “control freak.” Still, he’s not quite sure why his therapist thinks dogsitting will fix anything―especially since he and the canine share a kind of mutual loathing. And to make matters worse, a house sitter moves in next door disrupting his peace—and his dates—with the worst possible music at the worst possible time… every time.

Free-spirited artist Mia Argaropolis has settled into the perfect gig—housesitting in NYC’s Upper West Side while working as an art therapist. Too bad she’s stuck living next door to a bossy control freak with a penchant for calling building security when she blasts music to drown out the noises coming through his bedroom wall.

Post-apocalyptic dinner rolls that nearly take her kitchen with them, a douchebag ex, and a Shih Tzu with the personality of Godzilla attack Mia in one day, and her unlikely neighbor comes to the rescue. Like it was her fault. And now, somehow, they find themselves engaged? Both agree, this neighborly feud just got taken to a whole new level.

 Book Trailer:

Excerpt:
Mia felt Michael before she saw him. Like the ripples across the lake below, the air seemed to vibrate with his energy. And then he was close enough to see clearly. Not mad, thank goodness, but intense. Eyes narrowed, gaze never leaving her face, his intent was clear. She had no doubt in her mind what he was going to do. And while her ever-elusive shred of common sense squealed, “No,” every thing else in her shouted, “Bring it on.”

And bring it, he did, backing her up against the railing and taking her mouth with his before she could get a word out, not that she would have been able to string a cohesive sentence together after seeing that expression on his face. It was a look of desire, hot and insistent, just like his kiss.

The kiss in front of Jason had been toe curling, but this was something completely different. Overwhelming. Everything melted away—the bridge, people in the park, even where he ended and she began—as he stroked her back with his talented hands, coaxing her passion with his lips and tongue. When an involuntary moan escaped her, he answered with a groan and deepened the kiss.

This was the real Michael Anderson, not the calm, calculated one he’d chiseled from cold, analytical clay and wore like a mask to hide the real man.

My Review:
I read Sleeping with the Boss last year, so I was thrilled when Marissa Clarke released the newest addition to the Anderson Brothers series, Neighbors with Benefits.

This second book is Michael Anderson's story. Michael is a CEO control freak who is slowly beginning to spiral out of control with the weight of everything on his shoulders. Not only is he fostering a dog that his therapist asked him to, he is also working on closing the biggest deal of his life. Now he can't get any sleep - or anything else for that matter - done when it comes to the neighbor's house sitter.

Mia is the complete opposite of Michael. Whereas Michael is a control freak, Mia is a free-spirit who drifts through life. Mia is a house sitter, pet sitter, and artist. She moves from one job to the next, happy to be free. The only thing that remains steady and consistent in her life is the group of women who she teaches art to at the retirement home.

When Mia is left in a situation where she needs somewhere to stay, Michael makes her an offer. From that point on these two begin to understand one another and appreciate each other's differences and quirks.

I loved the fact that due to the situation they were in, they were able to take the time to appreciate the little things that would normally annoy them about one another while at the same time getting to know each other better.

I loved how Michael met his match and instead of an organized control freak like himself, Mia is free-spirited and gets Michael to relax and embrace life. Also, the attraction and chemistry between these characters is not forced, but is immediately there between the two.

Marissa Clarke once again exceeded all my expectations and blew me away with Neighbors with Benefits. With her cast of wonderful written characters, including some great secondary ones, humor and sexy times, Clarke shows how talented an author she is.

My Review
Brodey Hayward, an injured homicide detective on leaves is bored. Finding himself roped into a case of his sister's as an investigator, Brodey finds himself wrapped up in the case and in the interior designer who is currently redoing the house which was the scene of the crime.

As Brodey and Lexi become embroiled in the case, their attraction comes out. But when the killer sets his side on Lexi, Brodey must save her - even if it means betraying her.

The Detective is suspenseful and gripping. I was hooked almost immediately after beginning the book and by the end, I never wanted to finish. I loved the suspense of the book and the plot. Most importantly, I loved the characters. I felt as if I knew them. Lexi is quirky, lovable, and talented. She really loves what she does and puts her all into her work. Brodey on the other hand is a fantastic detective with charm, and you can't help but to like him. Together him and Lexi are a formidable duo.

The plot is great. They aren't working a recent case, but rather one that happened two years prior. The case has gone cold, there are no leads, and no evidence left to gather. Using what he knows, Brodey has to put everything together in order to solve the case. I truly enjoyed watching all the pieces fall into place and his dedication to the job and to protecting the women in his life whether it was Lexi or his sister.

I would love to see Brodey and Lexi again in a future work of Giordano's if she ever feels the need to write them a new story. I think Brodey offers a lot as a lead character.

As a fan of Giordano, I have always enjoyed her work, but I have to say this is my favorite book of hers.

Excerpt 1
Revenge Best Served Hot
by Jackie Braun

She walked with him to the front entrance, telling herself it was half a glass of chardonnay on an empty stomach that left her feeling so off balance. Just as she wanted to believe that, earlier, it had been responsible for that near miss that surely would have been a kiss had he not backed away. Kate certainly hadn’t been going anywhere. She’d been waiting.  Wondering. All but holding her damn breath in anticipation.
“I’ll see you tomorrow,” he told her. One hand was on the doorknob, but instead of opening it, he turned. His expression was oddly fierce, his poker face having gone the way of the dodo. “For the record, this won’t happen again.”
She thought he meant coming in for a glass of wine, but he shot the assumption all to hell when he reached for her arms and tugged her closer. His mouth pressed against hers an instant before their bodies bumped together. His was unyielding, a solid wall of hard muscle and bone that her softer flesh was forced to mold against. His lips, however, were surprisingly gentle as they skimmed hers before his tongue sought entry into her mouth.
As her practical side screamed for her to push him away, Kate’s hands went to his shoulders. Then she slipped them between their bodies, opening up a small gap. But she didn’t push. Beneath her palms, she could feel his heart beating fast, its unsteady rhythm still managing to be in sync with her own. She grabbed a couple handfuls of his dress shirt, and then she simply hung on for dear life as the room tilted and her head spun.

God, the man knew how to kiss!

MY REVIEW
When Brody Flynn was in his early twenties, tragedy struck when his parents were killed by a shipping truck owned by Douglass Shipping. Years later, Brody is set on getting his revenge on the CEO of Douglass Shipping, Jonathan Douglass. Involving himself in a hostile takeover, Brody puts himself in the perfect position to bring Douglass Shipping and Jonathan Douglass down on their knees. What he didn't expect is Jonathan's daughter, Kate.

Kate Douglass has a keen business sense, but her father would never listen to her advice. When Brody Flynn acquires her family's shipping company, Kate works hard to get Brody Flynn to notice her and hopefully hire her. Her plan is to show her father that she is so much more than what he thought of her and show Brody that the shipping company can be a profitable business.

Placing Kate in the company as VP of operations, Brody intends to keep his enemy close, but finds himself getting too close to Kate herself. With her friendly personality, intelligence and wit, and great business sense, Kate attracts Brody even more. Now it's up to Brody to decide to cut ties on revenge and offer himself to Kate or keep his eyes on the end game.

Revenge Best Served Hot is a sexy contemporary romance that features anger, betrayal, tragedy, revenge (of course), but also has it's fair share of love and romance. I loved the interactions and relationship between Kate and Brody and thought that they were well suited to one another as a couple. Kate is such a strong heroine, full of wit and a mind as sharp as any business man's. A very likable, approachable, and engaging character, Kate is a character that readers can relate to. Brody's character is cunning, determined, and strong. He has his mind on revenge and has been thinking of this moment for years. He has worked for years to come to this present moment and nothing has been able to stand in his way so far...that is until Kate.

The romance scenes in Revenge Best Served Hot are sexy, steamy, and hot. The chemistry between Brody and Kate can be seen within the pages as well as the tension as they try to not cross the line and not fall in love.

From beginning to end, Revenge Best Served Hot does not fail to keep a reader entertained and wondering how this book will end. Will Brody and Kate be together or is Brody's revenge more important?

I absolutely loved this book and recommend it to readers.

Allison Rand, a jaded ex-barista drowning in debt that her ex racked up in her name, is given the opportunity of a lifetime when her friend Bryce gets her a job at Spotlight in the IT department.

Within a few days at the company, Allison is thrust into the 'spotlight' so to say, when billionaire Cooper Brighton requests that she works with him overseeing the creative department as they revamp his fall line ads.

As Allison works underneath of Cooper, all she can think of is getting underneath of him - even though she has pretty much sworn off men, especially arrogant, conceited men like Cooper Brighton.

Plush, book one, hooks readers from the first page with the sexual tension between Cooper and Allison and Allison's unique character and leaves you hanging with a plot twist that even I did not see coming.

The angst and tension between Allison and Cooper builds up between the two within this book and I am even more eager to see how things will be resolved within the next one especially with the cliffhanger KB Winters has left readers with.

I love how Allison stands out and is not your typical businesswoman. I think her different look and demeanor has her standing out from the rest, which is a good thing but most of all, I love the way she embraces who she is.

I did not read the prequel so I will be doing that next because I NEED Cooper's point of view. He comes off as arrogant and mysterious, but there's something underneath those layers and I want to see who he is under it all.

I really enjoyed this read and am anxious for the next book to release.
