55 Book Related Questions

I am taking part in Swapbot's 55 Book Related Questions swap hosted by Carpe Librum swap group.

1 Favorite childhood book? Charlotte's Web and The Littlest Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Both of which are still my favorites as an adult. (& the Goosebumps series - Guilty pleasure!)
2 What are you reading right now?  The Grimm Diaries prequels volumes 1-6 by Cameron Jace and Unenchanted by Chanda Hahn (Both on Kindle) and Making a Splash by Joanne Rock (Paperback)
3 Do you go to a library? If so, what do you currently have checked out there? If not, is there a reason? Yes, I do go to the library, but I have not been there in the last month of so. My TBR on my Kindle is keeping me pretty.
4 Do you collect any authors/series or certain types of books? Tonya Kappes, Nicholas Sparks, Agatha Christie and I own Cleo Scornavacca's debut novel Miss Taken in paperback and I hope to have a whole shelf of Cleo's work someday ;)
5 Do you have a yearly goal on amount of books you want to finish? My Goodreads goal is 80 books, but I am already 10 books ahead of schedule so I think I may surpass that goal ;)
6 Do you have an e-reader? Yes, a Kindle Paperwhite
7 Do you prefer to read one book at a time, or several at once? It honestly depends on my mood. Sometimes I read two - Like now I am participating in the Fairy Tales with a Twist Read-A-Thon and reading The Grimm Diaries prequels volumes 1-6 by Cameron Jace and Unenchanted by Chanda Hahn
8 Do you have a blog where you post about books? Do you follow any blogs about reading/books? Which ones? I do - Bottles & Books Reviews. And I also follow other blogs about books. Some of my favorites are Candace's Book Blog, The Bookish BabeBook Mama Blog and Tangled in Pages.
9 Least favorite book you read this year (so far in 2014)? The Comeback Kid by Thomas Hays
10 Favorite book you’ve read this year (2014)? Safe & Sound by TS Krupa
11 How often do you read out of your comfort zone? Not too often.
12 What is your reading comfort zone? I am pretty eclectic in my taste. Sometimes I tend to steer towards one genre for a long while, sometimes a few. I don't have many limits when it comes to reading and I have even recently gotten into dark romance (thanks to Pepper Winters!). Lately I have been reading a lot of Indie books and New Adult.
13 Do you read for enjoyment or to gain knowledge? Enjoyment, mostly.
14 Favorite place to read? My bed.
15 What are your thoughts on book lending? When it comes to ebooks, I do not lend my books out often. I have maybe done it twice in the last 6 or so years. As for my paperbacks, I don't mind lending them out as long as they stay in the condition I lended them out in: Each page pristine - no notes, no folds.
16 What are your thoughts on pirated books? No, no, no! As a blogger, I am treated to special access to ARCS and other books for tours and review blitzes along with review opportunities. I would never take advantage of an authors trust in me and pirate their book. I do not believe in piracy and Bottles & Books Reviews stand behinds a 100% NO PIRACY clause.
17 What are your thoughts on "Banned" books? Honestly telling me a book is banned is like teasing me. It just makes me want to read it more to find out why exactly it is banned in the first place.
18 What are barriers you have to reading more? (work, family, ect) I try to read as much as I can but it's not always easy with an active toddler running around.
19 How many books have you read in the last six months? 63.
20 What makes you love a book? Characters you can relate to, a good plot line that is easy to read.
21 What will inspire you to recommend a book? If it is a book that stays with me long after I have moved onto the next.
22 5 of your top read genres Indies, New Adult, Mystery, Contemporary, Romance
23 5 authors you read a lot Tonya Kappes, Duffy Brown, Agatha Christie, Nicholas Sparks, Pepper Winters
24 Do you read non-fiction? Biographies?Not often.
25 How many times do you read a week? Several. I finish almost 3-4 books per week.
26 Do you feel you read better with or without noise? Both ways.
27 What influences your book choices? A lot of what I read are books for review given to me by an author in exchange for an honest review. The others are books I've chosen based on their covers, blurbs, and rating combined.
28 Favorite reading snack? Bottle of water & fruit.
29 Do you literally judge a book by its cover, title, or author? Sometimes. I mean..I know if it's a Tonya Kappes book, I am going to read it no matter what. Same goes with Lauren Blakely.
30 What is the longest book you have ever read? The shortest? Hmm, I would have to say the longest book I ever read was the last Harry Potter book.
The shortest was a Natalie-Nicole Bates novella. For future reference, Natalie rocks - just saying!
31 How do you feel about giving bad/negative reviews? Even though as a book reviewer I have to give my honest opinion, sometimes I do feel bad about it. Luckily most of what I have read since beginning this journey has been 3 stars and up.

33 Most intimidating book you’ve ever read? I can't think of anything.
34 Most intimidating book you’re too nervous to begin? The Holy Bible. I've tried to get through the book so many times only to end up trying to re-read all over again because I only manage to get through so much of it each time I begin.
35 What book do you try to steer people away from? None really.
36 What book do you recommend most to others? Miss Taken by Cleo Scornavacca
37 Do you ever re-read books? If it's a very good book, then yes, occassionally.
38 Favorite fictional character? I don't really have a favorite.
39 Favorite fictional villain? The Evil Queen. I've read her portrayed in so many ways and I love it. I am reading the Cameron Jace 'The Grimm Diaries Prequels' and cannot wait to begin Snow White Sorrow to hear more of his Evil Queen's story. Also, Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter. What can I say? I LOVED him.
40 Books I’m most likely to bring on vacation? Something with a vacation/summer vibe. Something light.
41 The longest I’ve gone without reading. Not very long. Maybe a week and a half and it was only because my Kindle was being replaced.
42 Name a book that you could/would not finish. I'm sure there has been one, but none are popping into my mind at the moment.
43 What distracts you easily when you’re reading? My son, lol. Facebook, my phone, the television.
44 Favorite film adaptation of a novel? All of the Harry Potter movies were my favorites.

48 What would cause you to stop reading a book half-way through? If the book has not picked up the pace at all. If I cannot find myself liking the characters.

51 Are there any books you’ve been avoiding? No.
52 Name a book that made you angry. I can't remember.
53 A book you didn’t expect to like but did? Destroyed by Pepper Winters. This was my first dark romance so I was unsure what to think, but I loved it.
54 A book that you expected to like but didn’t? I can't think of one off the top of my head.
55 Favorite guilt-free, pleasure reading? None. I read what I read, take it or leave it. And most of what I read ends up being reviewed on here.
