Book Review: Flawless by Jennifer McGill-Sadera

Title: Flawless
Author: Jennifer McGill-Sadera
Purchase Links: Amazon / Goodreads
Rating: 5 STARS*

SYNOPSIS: Nobody's perfect. Except Lia Copeland. She's flawless. And worshipped. And hated. From her perfectly proportioned figure and enviable bone structure to her instinctual talent for clothing design and cavalier attitude, Lia's the woman every other woman wants to be and every man wants to have. Catapulted from sigh-maker in the high-school halls to superstardom in the fashion world, she makes it look easy. A girl like that has everything; every reason to be happy. Then why does Lia Copeland just want everyone to leave her the hell alone?

Behind the dazzling light of Lia's successes is a dark tale of fear, betrayal and confusion, leaving her with unfathomable anger--and so many questions. Chief among them: why is apathy threatening to take over her life? She forces herself to look to both inside and outside sources of the problem, leading her through a maze of emotions and relationships as she carries out her quest.

From the friends of Lia's youth--her best friend, Maddie, her tragic kinship with Doug, the tangled love triangle between her, Doug's cousin, Chad, and her pal, Wilson--to her later-day bond with her mentor, Jade, and therapist Ruth, Lia discovers the necessity of friendship and forgiveness in order to reach a life-affirming resolution.

A story about the choices made in the wake of travail and tragedy, it explores relationships with all their messy and marvelous moments and magnifies the beauty, wonder and
endurance of first love.

MY REVIEW: Flawless is the story of soul-mates, first loves, true loves, friendship, and personal growth.

Lia Copeland knows that there is something different about herself. Something that makes her apathetic to other's and their feelings along with her own. Going through the motions, Lia is stuck. Luckily for her she has her best friend, her soul-mate, Wilson by her side along with her group of close friends.

When she meets Chad everything changes. Instead of feeling apathy where Chad is concerned, she feels attraction and doesn't know how to handle it or her growing feelings for him.

When Lia ends up pushing Chad away she begins to immerse herself in school and her growing career, but when the loss of a close friend hits her hard she knows something has to change. But the question is: Is she ready to know why she is the way she is? Is she ready for the knowledge of something so dark her mind locked it up so tight to protect her?

Finding the strength to move on and move ahead is just the beginning of her healing.

When it comes time to face her first love, the love of her life, after so many years apart will she be able to? After everything they have both been through are they finally ready for each other and forever?

Flawless is beautifully written. The story is woven with so many elements that make it so complex and beautiful with each layer. I loved the main character, Lia, despite her flaws and cheered for her every step of personal journey.

Jennifer McGill-Sadera's characters each had their own personalities and defining characteristics which made them unique. Their differences and similarities brought them all together and connected them as life long friends.Wilson's kind heart and dedication to Lia was heartwarming where Chad's unending love even after so many years apart was beyond touching.

Flawless is definitely worthy of a 5 star rating!

Release Blitz: See Through Me by Sera Bright

There's only one person I want to see when I return home. But I know he won't be waiting. It's the reason I feel safe enough to come back.

I'm so wrong.

Ash isn't the same quiet boy from next door. He's tall, dark, and demanding answers. He wants me, but he doesn't trust me. Who can blame him? When his own family tried to break him down, he still sheltered me in this town full of liars. And I repaid it by leaving him without a word.

But I'll do anything to protect him. I have the scars on my wrist to prove it.

NOT a standalone novel. There are always two sides to every tale, and this is Katie's story.

Contains strong language, sexual situations, and mature themes. This novel is not intended for readers under the age of 17.

A breeze rose up and my hair fluttered into my face, covering my eyes. I brushed the strands away while Ash reached toward me to do the very same thing. He quickly lowered his arm to his side. My whole body pulsed in disappointment, and it struck me how this was a split-second snapshot of our story.

I attempted to walk away, but he braced his other arm on the wall, blocking me from leaving. I forced myself to look at him. Really look at him, and let him look at me. I owed him that much. His gaze stayed on my eyes, daring me to hold the connection.

To my surprise, his face had changed. Ash was always handsome, but his face had taken an edge, losing some of the softness of youth. Only his eyes were the same, starbursts of green and gold framed in thick dark lashes. But the shape of his jaw was stronger. His cheekbones sharper.

I bit the inside of my lip. His nose wasn’t blade straight anymore. There was a slight tilt and bump, as if it had been broken. And a small pink scar over one of his eyebrows. Possessiveness overtook my thoughts. I wanted to know what happened, who hurt him and where I could find them so I could tear them apart myself. I gave myself a mental shake. He wasn’t mine to be possessive about. Or maybe I meant obsessive.

“We need to talk,” he demanded. “You made me think you left for Michigan when you took off.”

“You know how I am.” I tilted my head to hide the fact I was lying to his face again. “I just decided at the last minute, and didn’t think.”

“Bullshit.” He leaned in closer. The air thickened as his breath tickled my cheek.“ Changed your phone number and deleted your email accounts at the last minute, too?”

When I’m not plotting elaborate schemes in my head, I’m having a fabulous time with my own real life story. That’s what happens when you have three awesome kids, two fluffy (useless) cats, and one very patient husband. Currently, we live in the mountains of West Virginia.

I can cook like a fiend but prefer to eat doughnuts with sprinkles for breakfast. Sprinkles make everything taste better. An avid reader of all genres, I shamelessly admit romance will always be my favorite. And while I enjoy the safe and familiar, I’m always up for an adventure.

Blog Tour: Night After Night by Lauren Blakely

**Warning: Spare panties are needed...you're welcome.***

"You are being rewarded for turning me on. But we're doing it my way. You teased the hell out of me, and now I want to watch you squirm. Crawl up on my bed and get on your hands and knees."

Their world was sex, love, and lies.

He intoxicated her. Commanded. Consumed.

With a dirty mind and a mouth to match, Clay Nichols is everything Julia never knew she wanted and exactly what she cannot have. He walked into her life one night and unlocked pleasure in her that she never knew was possible. Possessing her body, captivating her every thought. Which makes him way too dangerous for Julia Bell to risk her heart, given that she has a price tag on her head. She ran after one mind-blowing week with him, but now he's back, and determined to make her his own.

No matter the cost.

She was a sexy drug to him. Fiery, unforgettable, and never enough, Julia is an enigma, and Clay isn't willing to let her go without a fight. But she's got dark secrets of her own that threaten to destroy any chance of happiness. She's a wanted woman - the stakes are high, her every move is watched, and yet the lure between them can't be denied. Can two people burned by love trust again when desire and passion are met by danger at every turn?

A sensual, emotionally-charged erotic romance that is now a New York Times and USA Today Bestselling novel!

Please note: This book is intended for 18+ due to dirty talk, light bondage, and lots of sexy scenes. This ebook edition also includes the prequel novella First Night, which precedes Night After Night. The sequel, After This Night, releases May 12 and can be pre-ordered now.
Here are the links!

MY REVIEW-
It was supposed to be one night. But suddenly one night has turned into wanting more, much more.

When Julia Bell's ex ran off she was left paying his debts. Using her skill's in what used to be one of her favorite past-times, Julia is trying to crawl her way out of the debt left behind on her shoulders.

Meeting Clay Nichols wasn't in her plan. Anyone she becomes close to could become collateral damage, but something about Clay has drawn Julia to him and although she knows she shouldn't she finds herself falling deeper for him. What was supposed to be one passionate night has become more and Julia wants it.

Clay Nichols walked into Julia's bar one night for a drink and a chat with a beautiful woman, he left after one passionate night with the inability to get Julia out of his mind. Although he knows he shouldn't want more - especially after his last disastrous relationship - he wants Julia and all that he can get from her.

But when Julia's secrets become too much for Clay to bear will he be able to stand by her or will he leave her?

Blakely's novella, First Night, captured my attention and left me wanting more. Picking up where First Night ended, Night After Night once again manages to capture your attention from the very first page and keep you on edge until the very last.

The writing is sensual and passionate and the characters are very charismatic and likable. Clay is the man women flock to and want while Julia is a sweet girl in a bad situation. Each character's emotions and personalities are real and open.

Night After Night leaves you breathless and wanting more. Luckily for readers May 12th will be here very soon and along with it the release of After This Night.

I loved Night After Night, Clay and Julia and cannot wait to see what After This Night has in store for them.

I give Night After Night a FIVE out of five rating.

Excerpt
We only talked a few days ago about the possibility of me putting myself out there again and he’s presumptuous enough to think he can fix me up on my first date in ages? Of course he is; he’s Connor fucking Houston. As pissed off as I am, I have to admit a bit of morbid curiosity as to who it might be.
Over the past year, I have heard all about his best friends Daniel, Jake, Mike, and April. I have yet to meet any of them in person, although I sort of feel like I already know them from Connor’s stories. Connor Houston is HOT! Scott Eastwood hot. Melt in your mouth hot. ‘Yes, you can fuck me right here, right now, in this room full of people just because you looked at me with come fuck me eyes and I don’t even know your name’ kind of hot. I can only begin to imagine what his friends look like.
Jess glares at me and I know I overstepped—she’s upset. “Kate, I’m going to try and ignore the fact that you basically just called me superficial because you and I both know that nothing could be further from the truth. I met the guy two seconds ago and he is HOT, and you, my friend, need to get laid. You haven’t had a relationship in over three years. I want to see you happy. I want to go on double dates. I want to swap sex stories with someone who is actually getting some, but most of all, I want to see that sparkle that has been missing from your gorgeous eyes for the last three years. I know how broken you’ve been, and you have every right to grieve your losses, but it’s time to move on. My god, Katie Grace, you met the man all of ten minutes ago and have already decided he’s a jerk. Maybe he’s nervous. If I were you, I would give it an open mind and see where it goes. If it’s awful, well, you wasted a night. But if he’s great? God, Kate, if he’s great maybe you can be happy again. Besides, I don’t think Connor would set you up with a jerk. He’s way too over protective of you to put you in that kind of situation. When they come back, I’m going to ask Connor to show me around and you need to play nice with Daniel, if for no other reason than to do me a favor. Can you please do that for me?”
His lips are almost brushing against mine, so close I can feel his breath caress my lips… it’s intoxicating. Daniel places one hand on the back of my head, pulling me forward to close the small gap between us as his perfect lips meet mine for a gentle, yet utterly heart-stopping kiss. This is the first kiss fairytales are spun from. My heartbeat is still rapid, my pulse is still racing, and I can’t for the life of me figure out why I have waited so long to find him. This man was obviously made just for me. Daniel stops kissing me, resting his forehead against mine.
I reach up and run my fingers through his hair, and I feel him suck in his breath as he slowly he moves his lips to mine. Gently kissing me, he parts my lips with his tongue, making his way into my mouth. When his tongue caresses mine I feel butterflies in my stomach. What the hell? The feeling is exceptional; it’s unlike anything I’ve ever felt before. I’m lost in it and to it.

Blog Tour: Drake Restrained by S.E. Lund

Book 0.5
Drake Restrained

Drake Morgan, MD, Neurosurgeon, bass player, philanthropist – Dominant.

He doesn’t do girlfriends, he doesn’t do sleepovers, and he certainly doesn’t do breakfast in bed the morning after. He has his surgical slate at New York Presbyterian, he has a charitable foundation providing surgical tools to hospitals in Africa, he has his Brit Invasion cover band, Mersey, and he has his secret life as a Dominant in Manhattan’s BDSM community.

Into bondage, D/s and the occasional dungeon scene, Drake keeps every part of his life separate, the divisions between them neat and tidy. His weeks are filled with surgeries, music and D/s sex, and none of the well-planned and scheduled parts of his life intersect.

That is until Kate McDermott crosses his path and screws everything up.

Now, nothing is neat and tidy anymore, for Drake is smitten and things are going to get messy…

Drake Restrained is a novella in the Unrestrained Series, which explores the early days of the relationship between Drake and Kate from Drake’s point of view.

After divorcing his wife, Drake learns more about himself, his needs and his wants. Becoming a part of the BDSM life, he keeps strict reigns on his business and personal lives keeping the two separate. A neurosurgeon, philanthropist, and musician Drake is still scarred and hardened from his divorce. Enter his Dominant lifestyle.

Drake wants a submissive who is ready and willing for him three times a week. When strings start to become attached, he has no choice but to cut them and find another. Attached once, he knows it's not what he wants.

Until he meets Kate McDermott. Kate, a daughter of Drake's friend, the Justice of the New York Supreme court has been through a lot in the last few years. Now entering back into the social  spotlight she gets caught in Drake's sight.

Shortly after their first meeting Drake and Kate connect again when she is researching the Dominant lifestyle for an article she is writing.

Drake Restrained is written in Drake's POV of the events leading to him and Kate meeting and their beginning. The novella gives a reader more background and insight to the mind of Drake  along with the desire he has for Kate.

I have not read all of S.E.  Lund's books in this series yet, but after reading Drake Restrained I can't wait to keep reading the series. I loved learning more about Drake and his background and getting a peek into his mind.

I give this novella a FIVE STAR rating.

Drake Restrained is a prequel in the Unrestrained Series by S.E. Lund.

I headed to the washroom before leaving, making a quick pit stop, and on the way out, bumped into the pretty brunette. She pushed the door open to the woman’s washroom and knocked into me. I had to grab her to keep her from falling, for she was wearing ridiculously high leather heels and hadn’t seemed to have mastered them.

“Whoa,” I said, and caught her by the arms, pulling her against my body.

“Steady…”

“Oh, so sorry,” she said and grabbed onto my shoulders. She glanced up shyly, her cheeks reddening. “I’m not really used to these.”

In that moment, I was struck by the warmth of her body, the scent from her hair, and the soft curve of her breasts pressed against my chest.

She was delicious.

I was probably half a foot taller than her even in her heels, and from my vantage point, I was able to peek down her dress and see the swell of her breasts pushed together by the tight bodice.

Now, I had admittedly had sex with a lot of women in my time. Before I was married, I played around a lot, trying to figure out what sex was all about and what I liked and needed. I was married for five years and had a lot of sex, especially in the first few years we were together. Since I divorced, I had quite a few submissives, both as regular play partners and one-offs I topped at dungeon parties.

I wasn’t an inexperienced teenager, but the way my body responded to her, you would have thought I hadn’t had sex for months instead of a week and a half.
In that second or two I had her in my arms, I imagined her naked, her body pressed against mine, her lips on my skin.

God… She was lovely.

She smelled like shampoo and citrus. I wanted to bury my face in her groin and inhale deeply.

I finally pulled myself together enough to respond. “Trying to defy the laws of physics?” I said and smiled as I helped steady her. I glanced down at her shoes once more. “Nice shoes though. Love the leather straps…”

I would love to see her naked, my leather straps binding her body, looping around her tiny waist and over her hips, down between her thighs, splitting her labia…

“Thank you,” she said, straightening up with my help.

At that moment, I wished she were a submissive. She had creamy white skin, and looked to be of Celtic background with green eyes and long golden brown hair. Her shyness suggested she might incline towards submission, especially with someone older, but there was no way of knowing from such a momentary meeting. It was wishful thinking on my part.

She smiled briefly and then turned back to the bar as if she couldn’t wait to get away from me.

Despite my strong response to her, I knew she was right to do so for in that moment, I wanted her the way a wolf wants a doe, the need to possess her completely welling up inside of me more powerfully than it had in a long time.

Run away, little girl. You don’t belong with someone like me.
