Saying Goodbye without Saying Hello is my journey through my pregnancy in 2012-2013 with my second daughter, Dakota Emily. Everything went well throughout the pregnancy and when I went into labor, I found out she had passed. The autopsy revealed no reason for her death despite all the concerns that I had during the pregnancy. blurb
The journey of pregnancy brings hope, joy, and love for the expecting mother. The hope of giving birth to a new life. The joy of feeling this new life grow inside of her. The love that starts with a test that doesn’t ever end. Dreams for the unborn child flood the new mother’s mind, as well as those around her. Each step of the pregnancy is a cherished moment. The anticipation of meeting her cherished baby builds from the very first month and ends after birth.

This is the story of one mother and how a few words changed her life forever. How a piece of her faded when she heard these words: “There’s no heartbeat.” When RaeBeth Buda laid in the hospital in labor, she and her husband heard those dreaded words.

What happens when all of those dreams are shattered in a moment’s notice? How does one cope with the loss of their child? This is the story of their journey and of the devastating grief of the loss of her daughter, Dakota Emily Buda.

excerpt
Around 1:00 on the morning of the 27th, a person from the OB floor called my name. I motioned him over. He grabbed the wheelchair and pushed me through the halls. Mom and Greg followed closely behind. When we finally got to the sixth floor, they took me into triage room one.
“Hello, what brings you in?” The woman asked as she came in.
“I think we’re about to have a baby.” I answered her with a smile.
Why else would we be there? It’s not everyday people like to hang out in the OB part of the hospital for no reason at all.
“Okay, you’ll need to strip from your waste down. I’ll need a sample of your urine here in this cup and put the rest in the plastic bin. I’ll be back in a few minutes to hook you up.” She instructed as she pointed to the small toilet in the room.
It was a good thing I had to go. I looked over at my mom and Greg as I said, “Hope I can do this without peeing all over the place.” Of course, I tried to make both laugh and succeeded. As I pulled down my panties, I noticed a small amount of blood. My mom and Greg noticed too.
“The bloody show. You’re definitely not going anywhere any time soon.” My mom said with a smile. “We’re gonna have a baby!” She chanted excitedly.
The only thing I could come back with was, “Or she’s in distress.”
“Don’t think like that. All will be fine. Have some faith.” My mom said to calm me down and comfort me.
Once I was ready to get on to the bed, I slowly made my way with Greg’s help. I laid back and the contractions were much stronger. Around one in the morning, the nurse finally came back in, shut the door, and walk to the left side of the bed. She grabbed a strap and placed it on my belly. “This will monitor the contractions, which I see you’re definitely having.”
Once the strap was in place, she fiddled with the machine for a few minutes and said, “Let’s find that heartbeat.”
She grabbed the gel, put a good bit on my belly, and grabbed the Doppler. Once she spread out the gel, she started searching for Dakota’s heartbeat. I couldn’t wait to hear it. It was only a matter of seconds before I’d hear it.
She kept moving around on my belly. I pointed to right side of my belly button and said, “This is usually where my doctor found her heartbeat without a problem.” She moved the device there. We still didn’t hear anything.
After another squirt of gel on my belly, she searched again. My heart raced and panic overtook me. Something was wrong. I could feel it. I glanced at my mom and Greg. They were worried too. I saw Greg swallow hard and turned my attention back to the nurse.
“Sometimes it takes time to find the heartbeat. The baby could be lying with her back towards yours, which makes it hard for the machine to pick it up. I’m going to get an ultrasound machine. That will definitely pick it up.” The nurse said, as she placed the Doppler back and walked out of the room.
My mom saw worry and panic cross my face. She stood up from her chair and walked over to me. “Let’s pray” she said. My mom, Greg, and I said a quick prayer while we waited on the nurse. Within a few minutes, the door opened and the nurse pushed in an ultrasound machine. She plugged it in and turned it on.
As she stood to the right of me, Greg and my mom were on my left. My mom held my leg and Greg took a hold of my hand. I eagerly wanted the nurse to put a fire under her ass and hurry up. It seemed like everyone and everything started moving in slow motion. The nurse began looking at Dakota through the ultrasound.
At first, I couldn’t tell what was on the screen. What I noticed was that she was not trying to hear her heart but to see it. That was when it came into view. My daughter’s heart was not beating. I rubbed my eyes, thinking they were playing a trick on me. The nurse stood up and walked out of the room without saying a word.
Moments later, three other medical personnel walked into the room. They whispered in their small circle where we couldn’t hear and continued looking at the screen. The room was quiet. I heard the ultrasound machine running and could have heard a pin drop. I knew my baby was gone by the look on their faces, but no one said anything.
“Ummm, hello? Someone tell me what’s going on?” I yelled. I was tired of it. I knew what this meant, but I wanted them to say it. It was not final until someone had said it.
The doctor closest to me said, “I’m sorry. She’s gone.”

REVIEW - Saying Goodbye Without Saying Hello is the true, heartbreaking story of angel Dakota, her mother, author RaeBeth McGee-Buda, her father and sister.

Saying Goodbye Without Saying Hello is about love, loss, grief, healing and the love of a mother for their angel baby. This book is to honor Dakota and remember that although she is an angel she once grew in her mother's stomach and is loved.

RaeBeth takes her pain and shares it with other mothers who may be going through the same thing. She shows her strength through Christ and her never-ending faith. Her faith in God helped her through such a difficult loss and she never wavered in it, where quite a few would.

This book is beautifully written and captures all the emotions of love, loss, and grief while also giving hope to readers that they will one day be able to heal a part of themselves.

This wonderful book honors RaeBeth's angel, Dakota while telling other women who have suffered a similar loss her story and letting them know that they are not alone. Saying Goodbye Without Saying Hello is a wonderful book written by a loving mother!

Can one true thing save a love built on lies?

“That was all before…” Jenna waves her hand in the air, but we both know what she means. Before I touched her in the most intimate places. Before I felt her shudder under my tongue. Before she tasted the salt on my skin. Before I promised a lot more than I could deliver.

Ty Branch has wanted one thing his entire life—to play professional baseball. When he gets a chance to move from San Francisco to play at Texas powerhouse Garvin State University, he's willing to do whatever it takes to make his dream come true, even if that means hiding his past. But when he meets dance major Jenna Taylor, the chemistry is so strong his single-minded quest begins to weaken. As he gets to know her quirky, small-town family, he falls more deeply in love, but becomes even more sure he can never tell her the truth about his family. When a surprise visitor blows his past wide-open, Ty is forced to come to terms with his secrets. But is the damage already done with Jenna or can he find a way to sacrifice everything he's worked for in order to win back the heart of a once-in-a-lifetime love?

Excerpt
“I’m glad it was you at the bar tonight Ty,” Jenna says, looking up at me.
I glance down at the worn, grey carpet. “I’m glad it was you too. I’ve wanted to talk to you all year.” What am I doing here? I should tell her goodnight and walk away instead of standing here sounding like a teenager at the prom.
“Really?” She looks like she’s trying decide if that’s just a line. “Why didn’t you?”
I look back down and Jenna bites her bottom lip just slightly in a way that’s both innocent and undeniably sexy.
“I just…” I can’t look at her anymore, so I pull my eyes away and stare down the empty hallway. Why haven’t I spoken to her in almost seven months? Because I’ve spent that time becoming someone new and I can’t wreck all of that hard work. Because I’d have to tell her about all of the things that I’ve kept hidden from everyone if we got involved. Because I’d have to be honest with her—and right now I can’t be honest with anyone. “It’s complicated.”
“Oh,” she says vaguely and I know she doesn’t understand. How could she? Jenna puts the key in her door. “Do you want to come in for a minute? I’ve got a couple of beers in the fridge.”
I glance at my own front door down the hall. The one I should be walking through right about now. “I should go…”
There’s no denying the disappointment in her eyes when she looks at me and it’s painful to know what I could have if I just take that one step forward.
“Okay,” Jenna says. She stands up on tiptoes and bends toward me, her lips grazing my cheek. My head is filled with the soft, powdery scent of her mixed with something deeper and sexier. “Thanks for the ride.” She lifts one finger and draws it down my neck slowly and that’s all it takes for me to lose every ounce of my resolve.
Before I can think about what I’m doing, I bend down and kiss her so hard that I feel the breath leave my body as I press her up against the door and lace her fingers through my own. I’m starting to get lost in the kiss when the reality of what I’m doing hits me.
“I’m sorry,” I say, taking a step back from her. The taste of her is still on my lips and I want more, so much more, but I can’t. It’s not right.
“Don’t be,” she says, grabbing my hand and pulling me closer. But I resist, glancing away because I know if I look into her eyes I’ll lose every ounce of willpower I’m trying to summon. I can’t believe I’m about to undo everything I’ve put together these past few months. But Jenna is right here in front of me and she deserves to know the truth. “Listen…there are some things you don’t know about me…”
She looks into my eyes and I’m caught. “An STD?” she says boldly.
  I wince. “No.”
“A felony? A girlfriend? A baby?” I can’t help but laugh. In light of her guesses, maybe it’s not such a big deal. “No. Nothing like that.”
She grabs both of my hands and pulls me to her and every shred of resolve melts away. “Then I don’t care.”

                         REVIEW
Ty Branch is a college baseball player with big dreams and a promising future ahead of him. A popular athlete, Ty keeps a secret that could threaten everything he has worked for if it got out.
Jenna Taylor, the small-town dancer with hopes of getting her big break in a dance competition noticed there was something special about Ty the day she met him. While he has the potential to steal her heart will the secret he is keeping ruin their relationship before it fully begins?
Lynne Jaymes has written a novel with a secret that isn't as common as others and keeps you guessing what it is Ty is hiding throughout the first half of the story. The characters are similar to one another with their big dreams and ambitions, not wanting anything to stand in their way, yet their attraction to one another is undeniable.
The obstacles the characters have to face: the secrets, Jenna's grandfather, pull them apart yet bring them together with the hope that they can overcome these obstacles and mend their relationship with hopes for a future.
As the book ends you are left wondering what happens to Ty and Jenna next and where do they go from there.
Lynne Jaymes' One True Thing is a great book with original characters, a fresh plot, and a topic that still manages to raise a few eyebrows to this day.
I loved One True Thing and I think you will too. Be sure to add it to your Goodreads shelf today ;)

Blog Tour + Book Review: More Than I Asked For - T.J. Tims

More Than I Asked For blog tour banner                                                                            Synopsis
Book One in the More Than DC series by T.J. Tims
Genevieve Westley lives inside of her head. Her only connection to life; her two best friends, her grandparents, and her heart wrenching emotionally driven artwork.

Finally stepping out of her comfort zone, a night out with her friends has her stepping into the arms of Lucas Alexander.

Lucas has been labeled many things; rock star, CEO, devastatingly handsome panty dropper.

When these two collide their electric chemistry has them racing towards their happily ever after, but is that enough?

Secret after secret bombards them, turning Gen’s peaceful existence to chaos and confusion. With more questions than answers will she give it all up or fight, even if it’s more than she asked for?

REVIEW of More Than I Asked For -
Genevieve Westley, artist and introvert, is breaking out of her shell and what better way to do that is to meet a sexy ex-rocker of a popular band, now a CEO of his own company on the same night she decides she needs a new her.

Only she doesn't remember meeting Lucas the next morning.

Lucas Alexander has been the party boy, the rock star and now a CEO. He's in the spotlight constantly. Guys want to be him and girls want to be with him. The night Lucas' meets Genevieve he forms a true connection with her and knows he'd do anything to be with her.

Can two strangers who met in a bar one night become more - especially when one has celebrity status? Will secrets overcome and betray their relationship or will they have the strength to keep fighting for their relationship and one another?

The chemistry between them could ignite the place, but is that all they have or is there more?

More Than I Asked For is the debut novel from TJ Tims

Tims' writing is incredible. The characters each are their own unique person, the story-lines are fantastic, and the cliffhanger ending has the reader wanting more.

From the very first page TJ Tims' manages to capture your attention and holds it long after the book is finished, only to leave you craving the next book right away.

Genevieve is a beautifully crafted character with a personality and spirit just waiting to break out - which Lucas' does for her. Lucas is the man all the women want - handsome, an ex-rocker with a soulful voice, a successful CEO, loyal, patient and loving. The relationship between the two is explosive with the amazing chemistry between them. (Can we say one of the hottest book couple's of 2014?)

The different faucets and stories within the story of Genevieve and Lucas' make this book that much better - Genevieve's parents and siblings, Lucas' relationship with his father and his ex. Each piece comes together to make a wonderful debut novel.

The cliffhanger leaves us all hanging onto our seats with the question of WHO?

Book two, book two, where are you?

More Than I Asked For deserves a higher rating than 5 stars, but since I only rate on a 1-5 scale, a 5(+) will have to do. Bottles & Books Reviews recommends this book to all! Be sure to add it to your Goodreads list today ;)

author pic
Raised in New Jersey on the shore, TJ began reading romance novels at the age of fourteen when she picked up Elda Minger’s The Dare. From that day forward she hasn’t stopped reading romance novels of all subgenres. While focusing on her career working in a corporate office and reading at night TJ somehow found herself married and pregnant when she paused to breathe between novels. After being laid off and giving birth to her son, she threw herself into being a stay at home mom. One month her husband was very upset at her for spending forty dollars on books when she became “one click” happy, later that evening when doing the math she realized she spent FOUR HUNDRED dollars on books, silly husband somehow dropped a zero. Destroying the evidence since she was already placed on book probation, TJ decided to think of ways to curb her purchasing. The only way that would satisfy her active mind seemed to be exercising it by writing her own stories. A story turned into a novel, and a novel into a series. During the day TJ focuses on her household that is overrun with testosterone; one beefcake husband, one son that takes after beefcake husband, and two male dogs. In evening she taps away at her keyboard letting her mind play. Be sure to follow TJ on Facebook for any updates. www.facebook.com/authortjtims
