Never fall for a rockstar...

Julian Wheaton views the world through a kaleidoscope of synesthesia, seeing the colors of every sound he hears. His life as an iconic rock guitarist was a stressful psychedelic trip that nearly destroyed him. Now he’s abandoned the rock ’n’ roll lifestyle for the peaceful sanctity of his recording studio, but when fiery Cleo Compton comes to work for him, she brings chaos with her.

Cleo Compton has had her flings with rockstars—and it’s left her wary and bruised. Julian may have those sexy bedroom eyes and drool-worthy tattoos, but Cleo is determined to keep things strictly professional—until Julian turns out to be every dream she’s ever chased. When he risks it all to hit the road with a band again, Cleo fears he’ll return as the one thing she can no longer abide—a rockstar.

MY REVIEW
Rock stars, groupies, craziness.. Oh my! Color Me Crazy is a whirlwind of romance and music with a swoon-worthy and unique lead male rockstar and a crazy, but humorous woman who makes him want to settle down.

Julian Wheaton isn't your typical rockstar - or at least he's not these days. Preferring to play background music and own his own recording studio, Soundbox, Julian is low key compared to his days in a popular rock band. When he meets Cleo, he's instantly attracted to her and yet finds himself in one unfortunate situation after another when it comes to her.

Cleo Compton should come with her own warning sign: "CAUTION! Danger ahead!". Every time Julian Wheaton ends up within five feet of her, he has the marks to show for it. Cleo, Addie's friend, is introduced to Julian on her birthday and from the start an attraction is obvious and their connection is there.

Julian, who has synesthesia, sees the world in color and when Cleo enters his life she brings the color of orange and the smell of tangerines with her. Julian lets down his guard and let's Cleo see him for who he is, flaws and all. In return Cleo accepts him.

When Julian gets a fantastic offer it's up to him to decide if playing music and touring  is what he wants or if it will be too much for him. Along the way Cleo is there to lend her support until something happens that may just be too much for their relationship to bear.

Color Me Crazy features a cast of unique but lovable characters. Julian is a different rockstar from ones I have previous read about. For starters his synesthesia stands out and makes him unique. Another thing is he is not a current rockstar and instead spends his days recording records for other acts. With a keen sense of style, fantastic taste in music and so much talent, Julian blows your mind away and makes you swoon like a groupie. Cleo is a crazy woman, but a good kind of crazy. She's a hazard to Julian from the beginning but has a positive influence on him. With a sense of humor and a.. Hmm..unique sense of style, Cleo is both Julian's polar opposite and perfect match. Last but not least I want to mention a few secondary characters who stood out to me. First up is Sheik and his unwavering loyalty to Julian. He's a good friend. I am curious to hear his story and see him find a happy ending. Also, I am very, very interested in Ben and Marcus. I think this couple is adorable and I would love to read their story someday.

As for the plot and setting, Color Me Crazy is set in San Antonio and the descriptions of the area and places are great. This is the first time I read a book set in San Antonio and I was glad that Cplor Me Crazy was my first. San Antonio cherry popped? Check! The plot itself is not your typical rockstar romance which of course makes it stand out among the rest - in a good way of course. I loved the fact that Julian was not your typical rock star and that he saw the world in color. I loved the humor and mishaps between Cleo and Julian in the book. These two sure keep you on your toes and turning the pages for more.

Carol Pavliska's debut book is a hit! Color Me Crazy showcases her talent and from beginning to end, readers are sure to realize that Color Me Crazy will not be a one hit wonder, but just the first of many wonderful books from Pavliska to come.

I wish that I could give this book a lot more than five stars but alas, I cannot. Therefore, I shall say this is a 5+ star read and I look forward to more from Pavliska. If you love rockstar romance, you are sure to love this one!
