MY REVIEW
Alex McCray, a former Marine, lives with the guilt that his best friend died to save him. The last promise he ever made to Drew before Drew's death was to watch over Drew's widow, Reagan. The only problem is Alex has been attracted to Reagan since the moment he met her.
Reagan hides secrets from the town who believes her husband was a hero and the family who believes Drew could do no wrong in their eyes. The only bright spot in her life the last few years before Drew's passing was Alex's visits. When Alex shows up on her doorstep, Reagan fights for her chance at happiness.
Can Alex live with the guilt and the knowledge that he is falling for his best friend's widow? And when the truth comes out will Alex crumble? Will Reagan find her happily ever after and be free from the demons of the past?
I absolutely loved this book! The characters are so well written I felt as if I knew them. Reagan is such a strong female and I loved her determination, her strength, and her courage to move on with her life - no matter who thinks the worst of her for doing so. After everything Reagan has been through she deserves a bit of happiness and some sunshine in her life. Reagan is an admirable female lead that possesses beauty, courage, intelligence, vulnerability and the strength of a lion. She holds her head up high and lives for herself and her freedom. Alex .. Oh Alex .. Alex is definitely a swoon worthy alpha male. I love (ex)military types and Alex had the protective alpha down to a tee except with sweetness and vulnerability. Alex is such a book boyfriend.
Shatter Me addresses the topic of domestic abuse which can sometimes be hard to read - even harder to live with - and shows the light at the end of the tunnel. Shatter Me gives abuse victims hope in the midst of despair.
Tori St. Claire writes an utterly beautiful, emotional love story of second chance love.
I want to give this book more stars than five, but alas I must stay within my 1-5 rating. With that said, of course I give Shatter Me FIVE STARS.
