“Excuse me.” I said with a cautious tone. Tugging my hair behind my ears, I ducked a shoulder as I attempted to pass by him and leave. But I’d managed to get no further than about a foot when Gabe grabbed me with such force, one of my sleeves almost tore at the seam near my shoulder.
Blindsided by his speed and aggression, I gasped as Gabe crushed my body into his with a hard pull. He yanked me as if I were weightless, an experience I didn’t think possible. The power of his embrace was a hundred times greater than I expected. Just then, my eyes locked on his. Inexperienced though I was, there was no mistaking, none, about what he intended to do. My breath hitched in the middle of my chest as the muscles of Gabe’s arms flexed against my curves.
Without wasting a second, Gabe descended upon me, pressing his mouth into mine. I inhaled as he did, half-shocked, half-lustful. His lips were soft, moist and seemed to fit against my mouth as if by design. WOWZA! Slipperless Book One is the three S's - SEXY. STEAMY. SEDUCTIVE. With a plot that seems half Cinderella-ish and half Ugly Duckling, Sloan Storm has written a wonderful and sexy fairytale re-telling.
Fiona Matthews is an "ugly duckling". Safe in her frumpy clothes with her planner at her side, Fiona isn't used to attracting men or having them chase after her. Taking care of her grandma, Fiona looks for a new job and is hired quickly. The problem is her new boss is a billionaire who happened to flirt with her at a bar and again in an elevator. The sexual tension between these two quickly start to heat up and along with it the "evil step-sisters" aka Fiona's female co-workers come out to play.. And not very nicely.
Gabe Hawkins is a billionaire CEO of his own company. Running into Fiona at a bar, Gabe is attracted to her although she's not the typical woman he goes for. Fiona isn't the girl to stand out but something draws him to her and has him wanting to know more.
Both Gabe and Fiona have suffered tragedies and hardships in their lives and can easily relate to one another. I loved both these characters and am looking forward to seeing how the relationship between these two developed and where the story goes from this point on. The plot is a great re-telling that easily entrances readers and draws them in only to leave them wanting more. I was hooked from the first line and wanted more. I'm really looking forward to the next installment of Slipperless.
