Excerpt
“I didn’t mean to eavesdrop,” Maggie says, “But fuck yeah! I’m so proud of you for standing up to that asshole!” She studies me. “You know what. You look like you could use a glass of wine. Fortunately, that’s something we have plenty of here. Red or white?”
“White. I can’t believe I said all that. My dad is going to be mad at me when he finds out I lied to him.”
“And do you care about that?” she asks as she drags me out of her office, across the street to her house, and onto her front porch. “Sit and rock. I’ll be right back.”
I sit down and rock. And rock.
And feel a little calmer.
By the time she comes back with two glasses of a crisp Chardonnay, I say, “I’m proud of me too.”
“You should be. Can I see the Thanksgiving card?”
“Sure.” I hand her my phone.
“Oh, wow. You even made up a little rhyme.
We should thank you for your business this Thanksgiving day,
But, instead, we find Collin and his secretary rolling in the hay.
Yes, he has a wife who you all know,
But does that really matter?
Boys will be boys and all that chatter.
If you’re a wife and know how I feel,
Show Collin you won’t stand for this deal.
Move your business to someone worthy of your trust.
And not someone who just thinks about lust.
Maybe it’s time us women unite.
Like the Pilgrims and Indians did that night.
So Happy Thanksgiving,
enjoy your cranberry sauce
And know I’m divorcing this asshole,
Love, Ariela Ross.”
“What do you think?”
“I think if you stop planning weddings, you could write divorce cards.”
My Review
In this next volume of Captive Films Season Two, readers get to see how Keatyn and Vanessa work together in order to work the public perception to the negative press Riley, Dawson, Knox, and Jennifer garnered during their night in Vegas.
While Keatyn and Vanessa focus on that, readers get a view in to each of the woman's personal lives as Vanessa and Dawson try and figure out where they stand with one another and where they go from here - especially once Vanessa finds out Dawson is a package deal with two little girls that call him 'Dad'. As for Keatyn, she's trying to keep her pregnancy a secret while trying to get her dream wedding to Aiden planned.
And of course there's Ariela. Ariela has finally started to stand up for herself when it comes to her family and her soon to be ex-husband by letting everyone know that she wants a divorce. Now only time will tell what will become of her and Riley.
Captive Films Volume Two will leaves readers anxiously awaiting the next release. With each Captive Films episode, Jillian Dodd leaves fans needing more. By now each character has become a part of us readers. We have laughed with them, rooted for them, and fell in love with them. Captive Films gives us what we want while also making us need more.
Jillian Dodd, us fans applaud you for giving us not only The Keatyn Chronicles, but for giving us more of our favorite characters in Captive Films.
I don't know about you all but seeing these characters all grown up makes my heart happy. And although I love Aiden, I grew a huge soft spot for Dawson when him and Keatyn were together in high school and now seeing him all grown up makes my heart flutter.
