2016 Reading Challenges ♥

2016 Reading Challenges ♥
I'm taking part in a few year round reading challenges in 2016. Including the 2016 Reading Assignment Challenge, 2016 Bookish Resolutions, I Love Libraries Challenge, I Love Picture Books Challenge, Cloak & Dagger Reading Challenge, 2016 Horror Challenge, Contemporary Romance Reading Challenge, Craving for Cozies Challenge, Crafty Cozy Challenge, Blogger Shame Review Challenge, and Pervy Girl Reading Challenge.

It seems a lot to accomplish, but many can be cross over into other challenges and I am expanding my horizons this year into other genres. I used to be a huge fan of mystery and cozies, but lately I have found myself not reading as much. I am hoping with the Craving for Cozies, Crafty Cozies, and Cloak & Dagger challenges I will be able to regain my love for these genres. The I Love Picture Books Challenge is perfect for me as a mom since I read so many picture books with my son. We also spend every week at the library.

With the Reading Assignment Challenge and Bookish Resolutions, I am hoping to cross off several books I have been wanting to read along with accomplishing several goals that I have been wanting to.

All in all these challenges, along with COYER, will make for an interesting review year for me, I believe.

The Rules
  • The 2016 Reading Assignment Challenge runs from January 1st to December 31st 2016. You may sign up anytime between now and July 1st.
  •  You may only participate for the months AFTER you sign up (so if you sign up in February, January doesn’t count)
  • Commit to reading 1, 2, 3, or 4 books a month and MAKE A LIST of the SPECIFIC books you will read in 2016. This is the point of the challenge: you’re committing to reading a set list of books and a certain number of them each month. It’s your chance to finally hold yourself accountable for those books you keep promising you’ll read!
  • You may read any genre or any format (i.e., eBook, Audiobook, Paperback, Hardcover). But they must be published before January 1, 2016 and they must be at least 100 pages.
  • Pick a level and make your list. REMEMBER: you’re committing to not just those books, but that number of books a month. You CANNOT read them all in one month. We’re doing away with the complicated and often confusing extra credit this year, but you’ll get a chance for a fresh start each quarter.

  • As part of your sign up post, briefly write why you like using your library - free books, internet access, a quiet place to work, etc.
  • Write a review - 2 sentences or an essay, whatever works for you, but there is a minimum of 2 sentences. Not sure what to write? How about something like, "The characters were a delight but the story was slow and confusing. It was disappointing."

Levels:

The level I am aiming for is Middle Grade, but I would love to accomplish Young Adult.

WHY I LIKE USING OUR LOCAL LIBRARY
I love our local library because they offer so many wonderful programs for my toddler son. Since he was in diapers we have spent every week at the library participating in programs such as Baby Time, Music & Movement, Family Story Time, and holiday events. This week we rang in the New Year at a Noon Year's Eve party at our library complete with a balloon drop at noon, apple juice in champagne glasses, crafts and lots of books.

At three years old, my son is in love with books and has quite the collection of his own. His joy with going to the library each week delights me. I grew up in the library and now he is.

The Rules

  • Challenge runs from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016. Sign up is now through December 1, 2016.
  • Read picture books.
  • Pick a number and go for it. Twelve too easy? Go for 20. Piece of cake? Go for 40.
  • Books you own and library check outs count. So do ebooks and re-reads.
  • Write a review - 2 sentences or an essay, whatever works for you, but there is a minimum of 2 sentences for your review. Not sure what to write? How about something like, "The characters were a delight but the artwork was dreary. It was disappointing."

As the mom of a toddler, I am aiming for 30 books, but KNOW it will be a lot more than that once 2016 comes to a close!

  • You can read any book that is from the mystery/suspense/thriller/crime genres. Any sub-genres are welcome as long as they incorporate one of these genres.

    The Rules

Challenge Dates: Jan 1, 2016 and ends Dec 31, 2016

Set your pervy girl goal then get to reading! Once you've read it...review it then link it up in the review linky. Reviews don't have to be long. Even a sentence or two is awesome.

    What Counts:
    • Books MUST be read in 2016
    • All book formats count!
    • Re-reads and Challenge cross overs count!
    • Books can count for only ONE checklist item each
Anyone can join! If you don't have a blog you can use a dedicated shelf on Goodreads or similar.

I'm setting my goal for Level 2 (Still blushin'): 12 books to begin with, but I'm hoping to move up to Level 3 (Is it getting hot in here?) which is 24 books.
