My Review
Ryder Cole is the ultimate bad boy alpha in Eve Jagger's 'Hard'. From the very moment Ryder's character was introduced, I was entranced and wanted more of this undeniable alpha. Seriously, Ryder is the bad boy that every female craves. If anyone wondered what to get me for Christmas this year, just lock me in a room with Ryder Cole for 24 hours and I would be a happy, happy woman. Ryder has all the qualities I look for in a book boyfriend: intelligent, business savvy, rich... And let's not forget those good looks and of course he's tattooed ....
Sorry, lost my train of thought when my tongue dropped out of my mouth as thoughts of Ryder danced through my pervy head... Anywho, back to business..
What makes Hard great is the equally amazing and strong female lead, Cassie. Cassie is witty, strong-willed, and isn't afraid to stand up for herself. She's obviously an amazing sister also since she goes to work for Ryder in order to pay off her brother's debt. Cassie is beginning again after leaving an ex-boyfriend behind in England. Obviously something happened there, but you have to pick up your own copy of Hard to find out that story.

Hard is the perfect blend of intrigue, romance, humor and drama. Throw in those super sexy sex scenes and you have a debut hit on your hands.

Although the sex scenes were scorching, panty wetting hot, Eve tells a story beyond the sex.

Hard drives a reader in and has them wanting more. Reading Hard you would never imagine that Eve is a debut author. Showing so much talent and promise, Eve has you hanging on to every word in this book.

Eve Jagger, you have a fan in me! I can't wait to read your future work. You have a bright, promising future as an author!

Now my question is.. Which sexy bastard will we meet next?

Hard is 5+ panty dropping, give me more Ryder stars!

Lysandra turned toward Phoebe. Her friend’s lips were blue. Her complexion deathly pale. She shook Phoebe hard. She wanted to scream at her best friend to wake up but she couldn’t afford to attract attention. She bent down to ensure that Phoebe was still breathing. Her best friend’s haggard breaths let her know how bad things were. She choked back a sob as she hoisted Phoebe up.

She sighed in relief and continued toward the river. Just being close to the river gave her a sense of renewed energy and hope. Her skin tingled with anticipation at the clear sparkling water in front of her. Her mouth watered as she stared longingly at the river.

She gently placed Phoebe down, a few feet away from the bank. A loud splash froze the blood in her veins. Her head snapped in the direction of the noise. Most of the herd had followed the leader but a straggler had attempted to get one last drink. Lysandra just saw its rear end as it disappeared under the water’s surface. The water buffalo’s legs kicked in desperation as it met its watery death. The other animals scattered as if a lion had approached the river.

She remained frozen with horror. For years she’d heard of the dangers of the water but had never seen it for herself. She looked around desperately. There was no doubt about it, they were in danger and Phoebe was dying. The harsh wind blew sand in her eyes. She put her chin to her chest and blinked hard. They’d learned the hard way to not rub the sand or debris from their eyes. She reached out touching Phoebe’s face. Her hand stilled. A sob escaped her lips as her palm touched cold skin. Even the viscous sun and heat couldn’t hide death’s frigidness.

Desolation blanketed her. She was too late. She couldn’t help her best friend. Lysandra leaned over Phoebe listening hopefully for small, haggard breaths. She frantically checked her pulse. Something to hint at Phoebe still living, but she found nothing. There was nothing there but a cold, lifeless body.

Lysandra tilted her head back. Her parched throat couldn’t let out the scream that resonated within her. Her body shook with tearless sobs. There was nothing left for her in this life. Her family was gone. Her best friend lay dead by her side. The world was literally a living hell. She jolted as Phoebe’s body jerked. A flare of hope quickly died as her addled mind registered what she saw. Phoebe’s body disappeared beneath the surface just like the water buffalo’s. She was too slow to catch her best friend’s body as something dark dragged her underwater.

She jumped in not caring if her loud splash attracted unwanted attention. Phoebe’s silhouette disappeared into the depths of the river. She frantically kicked to keep up with her friend’s body but it was too late. Lysandra lost all hope. Her lungs screamed to get to the surface but her heart sank with sorrow. In her previous life she would’ve cherished the peacefulness of the silent water world. She might’ve reveled in its beauty. But now it only represented death.

Sharp talons imbedded in her thigh yanking her down. She gasped in shock and terror before savagely kicking at whatever had hold of her. The talons gripped harder making her scream in pain. Lysandra inhaled deeply hoping to fill her lungs with water. She desperately wanted to drown before being eaten alive. She couldn’t see what held onto her as the surface got farther and farther away. Her body tensed. Her mind screamed that she was drowning. Her lungs expanded with liquid but didn’t burn. She wheezed as terror flowed through her body. She fought the black dots that raced in front of her eyes refusing to lose consciousness to panic.

The talons loosened around her thigh as she regained some semblance of control over her body. Her mind warred with itself as she fought for reasoning. Was she going mad? Had she blacked out and was only dreaming? How could her lungs take in water and treat it like air?

“Just get it over with” She whispered as she closed her eyes quietly sobbing. A quick and painless death was not meant to be though; whoever or whatever had planned for her to be cognizant throughout. Her eye flashed open as her body jerked to the left. She gasped as the talons dragged her into a cavernous room. She stared in horrified rapture as sunlight filtered through the oversized underwater cave.

“Interesting” a deep voice rumbled. Lysandra stiffened as the talons released its grip from her thigh and shackled her wrist to the rock wall. She refused to look in the direction of her captor. Her eyes flitted around absorbing her surroundings. The cave was beautiful. Colorful fish swam by unbothered by its occupants.

“Who grabbed her?” The same voice interrupted the peaceful silence. She sensed more than one presence in the cavernous room. So her captor was not this bastard with the deep voice.

“Sire” another voice responded. His voice was much closer to her. She scowled knowing it was this SOB who’d captured her. “She jumped in immediately after one of the sentinels grabbed the cadaver.”

Lysandra shuddered at the word cadaver and bit her lip knowing they were referring to Phoebe. She swallowed the boulder-size lump in her throat. What had they done with her best friend?

My Review
Lysandra is trying to survive in an unknown world after being separated from her loved ones and thinking that they may be dead. The only survivor with her is her best friend, Phoebe, who is not fairing well. Lysandra has no idea as to what is to come but tries her best to hold on and survive in this post-apocalyptic world.

The world that Senayda creates is dismal and invokes the feelings of despair, grief, and desolation in the reader and yet manages to capture your attention and have you wanting more.

As I began reading, I was unsure as where this story was going, but even with the few mentions of water, I wasn't expecting an underground world beneath the water.

This underwater world captivated me and made me want more. Unlike anything I have ever read, I was not sure how I would like this book, but in the end it truly mesmerized me.

I gladly give this book 4 stars and look forward for more from this author.

Daniel slid into his seat and away from Eric, but his arms remained tense. His brothers wouldn’t like this plan. He didn’t like this plan. “I’m to babysit the spoiled rich princess and keep her away from the cops and the alcohol, this trip.”

He pressed his lips together. He expected his brothers to have an opinion, but silence greeted his ears.

All eyes went back to the door.

His collar grew warmer. Daniel glanced around to stare in the same direction. He assumed Kate Sparrow had stepped into the club.

His eyes scanned the room, and then the crowds parted. He had his first look. Time might have stopped, and he heard his own heartbeat. Brown hair with a bit of a curl, brown eyes, small frame, unusually large breasts for a woman her size, and an energy that took his breath away. He also noted that Kate’s eyes held a gleam, and Daniel’s mouth fell open. Kate Sparrow was the most beautiful woman he’d seen in a long while.

Beauty meant trouble. He turned back to his beer and refused to stare at her.

The pictures in the papers hadn’t done her justice at all. How did they turn that pretty woman into a viper with a camera? His mind raced. Did she have a Jekyll and Hyde personality that came out at night?

My Review
Borrowing the Doctor is the second installment in The Collins Brothers series and features Daniel, the oldest Collins brother.

When Daniel joins his family on a cruise for his younger cousin's wedding, he is asked to keep an eye on the bride's sister, Kate.

Kate has been accused of being an art thief, but only she knows the truth: she's innocent. Helping the bad guy to catch the real thief, Kate must keep the truth to herself for the time being.

When Daniel and Kate begin faking a relationship, they find themselves wanting more from one another, but can Kate be in a real relationship with Daniel when there's danger on her tail?

Borrowing the Doctor, is a book that will have you hooked from the beginning if you enjoy romance and suspense as much as I do. Kate, seeking to prove her innocence, knows her sister is up to know good and for the groom's sake would like to see the wedding called off. The groom just wants to pawn her off. Here's where Daniel comes in. As the two connect and begin a friendship, Daniel tries to help her in anyway that he can.

Kate, who has trust issues, feels the chemistry between Daniel, but he needs to work a little harder to gain her trust and more importantly, gain her heart.

I really enjoyed the story line along with the great cast of characters. Kate and Daniel are both strong. Daniel is ex-military and an alpha male and Kate is intelligent and very caring.

The plot is wonderful and the romance is swoon worthy. The only complaint I have was that there were some unanswered questions left remaining at the end and I wish those would have been cleared up by the author.

With that being said, I would definitely rate Borrowing the Doctor 4 stars and would recommend it.

Excerpt

A few minutes after ten, Derk and Smith sauntered into Cards to find it filled with wall to wall drunks.

"Holy sh*t," Derk spat.

Mackenzie was on top of the bar with Kayla and two other bartenders doing some sort of dance, gyrating to the pulse of the music. He could have sworn he felt his blood pressure spike. F*&k this shit. It was bad enough she just recovered from a concussion from dancing on that cesspool of a bar, but to be on display like a pole dancer. Forget it. Not his girl. She needed to find a goddamn secretary job.

Seeing red, he stormed right up to the bar, shoved drunk bastards out of his way, until he stood below her. It only took a moment for her to catch his eye. A flash of fear lit those beautiful blues. Luckily for her and everyone else nearby, it was the end of the number. She jumped off the bar to a round of applause and went right back to pouring drafts. Conveniently out of arm’s reach. When she approached him, he reached across the bar and yanked her close.

"I don’t like it," he growled. Eyes narrowed, he studied her as she nervously bit her lip. The caveman in him wanted to toss her over his shoulder and cart her the f&%k out of the disease infested place. Buuuut, that would more than likely have her screaming, and the only time he ever wanted to hear her shriek was when he was pounding into that tight body.

F&%k. F*&k. F*&k.

How the hell did he deal with this? He wasn't used to wanting a woman so badly he went all alpha or whatever. It made him feel...exposed, like he was gonna lose his sh@t.

"You realize you don't have a say in what I do for a living," she challenged, her voice unsure.

"You really want to get into it with me, Mac? Do you?" he countered, totally turned on by her defiance.

Shrugging, she looked him dead in the eyes. "Do you really want to get into this debate with me?"

She squared her shoulders and straightened her spine, ready for a battle.

Assaulting her mouth, he kissed her hard, his tongue reaching as far back as it would go. He was so f*&king hot for her, he wanted to take her on the dirty-a** wood bar. Apparently, she was just as hot, because she met him stroke for stroke as their tongues danced violently. He dislodged their lip lock. "Mac, you're mine tonight."

Her eyes glittered excitedly. "You think?"

"You don't have a f*&king choice, M. I'm tired of waiting for you. No more." Derk released his grip on her and reluctantly allowed her to return to her duties. Raking his eyes up and down her fine body, little did she know what she was in for when she clocked out in a couple hours. Waving toward the far end of bar, she let him know where she was stationed for the night. He and Smith muscled their way and not-so-gently escorted two barely twenty-one year old punks off two stools.

Mac quickly slid a beer in front of them, then went about her business. Derk ran a hand through his hair and released a long breath. He picked up his longneck and took a drag, his eyes plastered to Mac. As if she could feel his penetrating gaze upon her, she turned his direction and her cheeks pinked. Snorting, he crooked a finger at her. The minx sauntered over to him and leaned on the bar, teasing him with her perfect breasts.

"You're coming home with me after work," he demanded.

Narrowing her eyes, she said, "Are you asking or telling me?"

About to admit that was a direct order, he clamped his mouth shut.

"Will you?" he asked, with only a hint less demand.

She rolled her eyes which caused Smith to chuckle. A rarity for the man.

"You look tired."

"It's been a sh*tty day," he admitted.

Nodding, as if she sensed that, she relented. "Okay."

"I'll pick you up," he said. "Three?"

"No, midnight. I get off early." She gave him the most awesome wicked smile.

He leaned over into her personal space. "You don't have to work here, you know."

Furrowing her brows. "What do you mean?"

"Just saying." He shrugged.

Sh*t, what the hell was that? Sometimes that brain filter thing shut off on him. Now wasn't the time to spew stupid crap like she could live with him and he'd take care of her.

Beside him, Smith quietly chuckled, again. He'd kick the bastard if he didn't think Smith would retaliate with a bullet to his knee cap.

Derk picked up his beer and downed it, tossed some cash on the bar, then stood to leave. Leaning over, he grabbed Mac at the nape of her neck and pulled her in for a blazing goodbye kiss.

When he had enough of her taste to tie him over until later, he stalked out of the place before he opened his mouth and said more crazy, stupid sh*t.

The Love Series Reviews

Book One: Silent Love

Former Navy SEAL Sean Millen has been perfectly fine with his bachelorhood until recently, when he realizes he's unhappy with his single status. Unfortunately, his playboy reputation doesn't offer him the type of woman that could fulfill his days and nights as well as settle into the specific life he envisions.

Four years ago, Beth Connors' world was entirely altered. Beth spends her days trying to remain invisible in order to avoid unwanted attention. Each night she sheds grief-filled tears over the former life she once led but will never be able to regain.

When Beth literally runs into him. Doctor Sean Millen. A force of nature. A rock. A reputable heartbreaker, who takes an immediate interest in her, there's no place for her to hide. But Beth's natural instinct to push Sean away to save herself and him from the difficult task of adjusting their lives to her shortcomings is always front and center. Yet, Beth secretly longs for love. Is she strong enough to tear down the walls of her self-imposed prison?

Sean finds himself falling for a woman who is determined to reject his every advance and deny their surprisingly deep connection. Can Sean push past Beth's concrete walls that she refuses to destroy? Or will Beth's shocking revelation of her past prevent them from finding the love they both deserve? Or will a tragic accident pull Sean and Beth apart permanently?

My Review

Sean, a doctor and former Navy SEAL, runs in to Beth - quite literally - and an instant attraction forms. Without knowing the difficulties Beth faces in her life, Sean finds himself unable to walk away and works to make sure that Beth knows he is not going to give up on her or them.

Beth's world came to a screeching halt four years earlier. Unable to cope with the trauma from that day, Beth isolated herself in her own little bubble, but when Sean enters her world, she finds it changing for the better.

When the truth comes out about that day, will Beth be able to accept it and keep moving on with Sean or will she be unable to look past it when Sean's cousin turns out to be involved and a hefty reminder of all that Beth lost?

Silent Love is a book filled with angst, hope, and love. Casey Clipper delivers a novel that will have you swooning and snatching Sean up as a book boyfriend. The twists and turns Silent Love is filled with takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions.

Beth and Sean's characters are written so realistically that you can feel Beth's pain and her hope for a future with Sean. Both are so different and yet such a great match for one another. Sean is determined, intelligent, handsome, and a protector. I loved his bond with his brother Ryan. Those boys were the very definition of family. Beth, although vulnerable and unsure, is so strong and Clipper portrays that fact within the character.

Another character who intrigued me was Sean and Ryan's cousin Courtney. I had not read the prequels and The Boss's Love so those will be added to me TBR list.

Silent Love is a great start to this series and I look forward to reading the rest of the books to come.

        Book Two: Unexpected Love

She can no longer afford to pay the bills with her minimum wage job after her ex dumped her while she'd been in middle of nursing school. He walked out on her to "find himself." Can Lynn save Ryan from himself? Can Lynn allow herself to open up to Ryan and trust again? What happens when they push against the natural draw they have towards one another?

And what happens when Ryan's one-nighter reappears, set out for revenge?

     My Review

Unexpected Love is the story of Ryan Millen, Sean Millen's brother who was introduced in Silent Love. Ryan Millen, a NICU nurse, is enjoying his life as a bachelor and doting uncle to his nieces-to-be when an unexpected surprise is dropped in his lap.

A firm believer in always wrapping it up, Ryan's unprepared for a woman he can't remember to claim he fathered her child - the one she is trying to put up for adoption. When Sean and Beth talk Ryan into bringing the baby home, Ryan is thrust into the world of single daddy duty with no clue what to do when it's his own child who needs him.

Lynn, Russ' (Courtney's manny) sister, is a nurse who is drowning in debt thanks to her ex and is unable to find a job. When an unexpected opportunity comes her way, she snatches it up in order to help pay her bills.

When the two find themselves no longer unable to deny what lies between them, a wrench is thrown into their way. Will they be able to survive it or will they walk away broken hearted?

Once again Casey Clipper has delivered a captivating book that holds your attention from the very beginning. If you love alpha males or ex-military men, this series is for you! Every male character in Clipper's series comes off as very alpha male and the strong protector types.

Ryan who is thrust into the single daddy role has problems adjusting, but undergoes a tremendous amount of growth from the beginning to the end of the book. Lynn also undergoes some personal growth of her own.

My only complaint is how suddenly Ryan's one night stand reappears and the way the situation is resolved. The same goes with Lynn's ex. It seems that these characters were kind of just thrown in and the story lines were a bit rushed. Other than that, I loved the book and the bits where Sean, Beth, and Courtney were thrown in.

Dangerous Love Review

Derk, the Mob Boss' henchman, is accustomed to getting what he wants, when he wants it. What he wants is Mackenzie, a woman who wouldn't have any luck at all if she didn't have bad luck.

As soon as Derk sees Mackenzie he knows that he wants her in his bed - no strings attached. Derk comes off as too crude and arrogant (hello, alpha male!) to her taste and Mackenzie wants no part of him or what he has to offer.

In an attempt to try a new approach, Derk begins spending time getting to know Mackenzie and realizes he wants her - not as a no strings attached girl, but as a part of his future.

Once she finds out what he does for a living though, will Derk be able to change her mind when she decides she wants no part of that kind of life.

I have to admit, I was unsure if I would like this book as I picked up Dangerous Love. Derk had come off as a rough guy the few times he had been mentioned in the previous books so I didn't know how I would feel about his character and his story.

Once I started reading I was so GLAD that I did. Bad boy Derk actually has a lot to offer for his character. Despite being the resident bad boy, in the mob (the boss' henchman, no less) with a skilled set of unique 'talents', I actually really liked Derk's character once I got to know him. I will admit there were times I wanted to smack some sense in to him especially when he was behaving worse than a caveman. I enjoyed the fact that once he realized how much he wanted Mac in his life, he was willing to do whatever it took to make her realize he wasn't the bad guy he comes across as and that he was more than what he did for a living.

I am anxiously awaiting the next installment in this series by Casey Clipper. Each book is so captivating and I cannot wait for more.
